Selfridge's Store, England 1919 |

Sopworth Plane on the top of the store. Harry Hawker and Lieut-Cdr Mackenzie Grieve had to ditch their areolplane during an attempt to fly across the Atlantic in May 1919. The plane was retrieved by a passing American steamer and displayed on the roof of Selfridge's store in England. Another image can be seen at The Royal Aero Club Trust website. |
